The official notification also provides event/position-wise vacancies for several sports, including Cricket (Batter, Medium Pacer, All-Rounder, Wicketkeeper-Batter), Football (Goalkeeper, Side Back, Midfielder, Winger, Striker), Athletics, Basketball, Swimming, Volleyball and Kabaddi. If suitable candidates are not available in any listed sport, the Department may allot those vacancies to another eligible sport.
✅ Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Educational Qualification (as on 01.07.2026):
- Tax Assistant (TA): A Degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Matriculation (Class 10) pass or equivalent from a recognized Board.
- Data Entry Skill (for TA): Candidates shortlisted for Tax Assistant must qualify the Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour.
- Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026):
- Tax Assistant: 18 to 27 years
- MTS: 18 to 25 years
- Age Relaxation: UR/OBC – 5 years; SC/ST – 10 years (as per DoPT OM dated 04.03.2024). Relaxation is applicable only if the candidate also fulfils the educational and sports eligibility conditions and produces the prescribed certificate (Annexure-C).
- Sports Eligibility: Candidates must be meritorious sportspersons with recognised achievements such as:
- Represented India in International competitions
- Represented State/UT in National Championships / National Games
- Medal winners in Junior National Championships
- Medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 years), Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games, Khelo India University Games
- School Games Federation of India (SGFI)
- University representation in Inter-University tournaments
- State School Team representation in National School Games
- Chess: Grand Master (GM), International Master (IM) titles and Chess Olympiad participation are also covered under the specified conditions.
- Sports Achievement Period: Only recognised sports achievements between 01 January 2022 and 30 June 2026 will be considered.
✅ Income Tax TA / MTS Salary 2026:
Tax Assistant: Pay Level-4 – ₹25,500 – ₹81,100
Multi-Tasking Staff: Pay Level-1 – ₹18,000 – ₹56,900
In-hand salary will vary as per posting location after adding DA, HRA and other admissible allowances.
✅ Income Tax Sports Quota 2026 Selection Process:
- Application Scrutiny (Nationality, Age, Education and Best Sports Performance from 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026)
- Document Verification
- Ground / Field Proficiency Test
- Data Entry Skill Test (only for Tax Assistant) – 8,000 key depressions per hour
Final Merit: Selection will be made in order of merit based on sports performance and marks awarded in the Ground/Field Proficiency Test. There is no interview.
Sports Preference Order:
- Represented India in International Competition
- Represented State/UT in Senior/Junior National Championships or National Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
- Represented University in Inter-University / Khelo India University Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
- Represented State/UT in Khelo India Youth / Winter / Para Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
- Represented State School in National School Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
- Participation at the above levels without winning a medal/position
In case of a tie, higher sports achievement during the eligibility period and then the cumulative number of medals will be considered.

✅ How to Apply for Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026:
Eligible candidates must apply in the prescribed Annexure-A form and send it by post. The Google Form is only an additional requirement. The physical application is final and mandatory.
➢ Step 1: Download the official notification and Annexure-A application form from www.incometaxindia.gov.in.
➢ Step 2: Fill the application form in capital letters using blue/black ink and attach a recent passport-size photograph attested by a Gazetted Officer.
