- Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
- Educational & Training Qualification: As prescribed by NCTE for the respective school level. Special school teachers require RCI-recognised qualification.
- TET Requirement:
- Primary (1–5): CTET Paper-I or BTET Paper-I
- Middle (6–8): CTET Paper-II or BTET Paper-II
- Secondary (9–10) & Special: STET Paper-I
- Higher Secondary (11–12): STET Paper-II
- Teachers appointed before 2012 who cleared Dakshata Pariksha are exempt. Candidates appearing in STET 2026 may apply provisionally but must qualify before the Preliminary Exam.

✅ BPSC TRE 4.0 Selection Process 2026:
- Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination: Objective General Studies paper (150 marks, 2 hours). 5-option format with 1/3 negative marking for wrong or unanswered questions (except option E). Qualifying marks: General 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC/ST/Women/PwD 32%. Shortlisting ratio: 2.5 to 10 times vacancies.
- Stage 2 – Main Examination: Objective papers (150 marks each, 2 hours) specific to school level. Part I (Language) is qualifying (min 30%). Merit based on Part II (Primary) or Part II + Part III (other levels). Same negative marking and qualifying criteria apply. No re-evaluation.
Guest teachers (Atithi Shikshak) receive service weightage of 5 marks per year (max 25 marks) added to qualifying scores.
