The engagement is contractual and does not create any right to regularisation, permanent absorption, seniority or lien in FSSAI. A 5% annual increment is admissible only if the contract is extended beyond one year.
✅ FSSAI Legal Consultant 2026 Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, obtained on a regular basis, from a recognised university, a deemed university, an institution approved by the Central Government, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government.
- A law degree through Open University or distance education will not be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in legal matters.
- Maximum age 58 years as on the last date of application, 22 October 2026.
- Qualification and experience must be possessed on or before the last date. Original documents must be produced when required.
✅ Remuneration and Terms:
- Fixed consolidated remuneration of ₹70,000 per month. No Local Allowance, HRA or medical benefits.
- TA/DA for official outstation travel at rates applicable to Pay Level 10.
- Initial engagement of 1 year, extendable by one year at a time on performance, up to a maximum of 3 years.
- Working hours: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Work on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays may be required. No compensatory leave for such attendance.
- Leave: 2 days for each completed month, on a pro-rata basis. Unavailed leave cannot be carried forward. Leave up to one month without remuneration may be considered with the approval of the CEO, FSSAI.
- Income tax and other applicable tax will be deducted at source. Police verification will be done as per Ministry of Home Affairs instructions.
✅ Job Responsibilities:
- Handling, monitoring and coordinating pending court cases before courts and tribunals.
- Drafting and vetting regulations, agreements, MoUs, contracts, tenders, policies, SOPs, advisories, speaking orders, petitions and counter-affidavits.
- Legal opinions on rules, regulations, court judgments and orders.
- Coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Legal Affairs and other authorities.
- Scrutiny of professional fee bills of empanelled law firms and advocates, and briefing notes for the CEO and Law Officers.
