Age Limit: 20-25 Years as on 01 January 2015 i.e born in between 02 January 1990 to 01 January 1995. The upper age limit is relaxed upto 27 Years (i.e born in between 02 January 1988 to 01 January 1995) for candidates who have completed Ph D after completing following educational qualification.

Pay Scale & Allowances: Flying Officers will be entitled to Pay in Pay Band of Rs 15,600-39,100 per month along with Grade Pay, Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Transport Allowance.

Educational Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level, with a minimum of 55% marks scored in each subject).

Physical Standards:

(1) Height and Weight - Minimum height: Men -157.5 Cms with correlated weight.
(2) All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.

Selection Process: Candidates who are short-listed will be called for testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar or Varanasi. The testing would consist of two stages as given below:

(a) Stage-I Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I Test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. All candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the Meteorology Branch. Those candidates who either do not qualify in Stage-I testing or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself.
(b) Stage-ll Testing consisting of Psychological Test, Group Tests and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Four Days).

Airmen in Group 'X' Technical Trades Born between 1st February 1994 to 30th November 1997 (Both days inclusive). During training, a stipend of Rs. 8,550/- per month. On completion of training, starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Dearness Allowance (DA) will be 23,655/- per month (approximately) and, which, in subsequent year, may rise upto Rs. 41,743/- per month as per sixth pay commission depending upon the rank attained.

Educational Qualifications: Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English (OR) Three Year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science . Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) with minimum 50% marks in overall aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Tenure & Training: Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years. Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum (Karnataka State). On Successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified durations.

Medical Standards:

(a) Height: Minimum acceptable height: 152.5 cm.
(b) Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm.
(c) Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
(d) Vision: Colour VIsion – CP-II, Visual Acuity – 6/12 each eye correctable to 6/6 each eye.
(e) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable
(f) Hearing: Candidates should have normal hearing i.e., able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately
(g) Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points

Airmen in Group 'Y' trades for Sports Quota Born between 01 August 1993 to 31 May 1997 (both days inclusive). Not exceeding 25 Years. During training, a stipend of Rs. 8,550/- per month. On completion of training, starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Dearness Allowance (DA) will be 16,213/- per month (approximately) and, which, in subsequent year, may rise upto Rs. 31,233/- per month as per sixth pay commission depending upon the rank attained.

Sports Discipline: Athletics, Cross Country, Football, Handball, Shooting, Volleyball, Weight Lifting, Basketball, Cricket, Gymnastics, Kabaddi, Squash Racket, Water Polo, Boxing, Cycling, Hockey, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Wrestling.

Tenure: Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years.

Training: Training period for Group ‘Y' Non-tech trades is 24 weeks basic training followed 2 weeks mid course leave and 48 weeks trade training. There will be 3 weeks leave during trade training after completion of 32 weeks of training. Training is howeverliable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit.

Educational Qualifications: Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination in stream/subjects approved by Central/State Boards of Education.

Sports Achievements:

(i) Individual should have represented the country in Junior International meets in any of the above mentioned sports discipline. The current achievements would be given preference during selection trials.

(ii) Individual should have attained the standard of fifth place in the Junior National Championship or Inter University Championship in above mentioned sports discipline. The current achievements would be given preference during selection trials.

(iii) In team events, the individual should have represented state in Junior National Championship and National School Tournaments conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in above mentioned sports discipline. The current achievements would be given preference during selection trials.

Medical Standards:

(a) Height: Minimum acceptable height: 152.5 cm.
(b) Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm.
(c) Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
(d) Vision: Minimum visual standard: Unaided 6/36, corrected to at least 6/9 for each eye with spectacles, Dioptectric power not exceeding ± 3.5 Dioptres in any axis. Full field of vision and Defective safe colour vision CP-II/III. (Candidates should bring latest prescription and spectacles for corrected vision, if used).

(a) Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale.
Candidates are advised to bring their sports kit / playing kit / sports shoes and shorts.
(b) Only PFT pass candidates would be called for sports skill trials.
(c) Candidates who qualify in PFT and selection trials for the game applied will be called for interview.
(d) Those who are recommended in interview will appear in Medical Examination conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards.
